Meet Dr. Scott
Dr. Amanda Scott was born in the foothills of Pasadena and came to Santa Barbara in 1998 as a pre-med student at University of California, Santa Barbara. She fell in love with the Central Coast and hoped to return someday. After 5 years attending medical school at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, she was overjoyed to secure a position as a resident in the Internal Medicine program at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. Upon completion of training, she started practicing primary care at the Santa Ynez Tribal Health Clinic in 2013; the same year she welcomed her first child. She quickly gained a reputation as a thorough, loved local provider who listened to her patients and worked hard to provide top-notch medical care.
After being Medical Director at the Tribal Clinic, she then accepted a position with UCLA Health and was pivotal in opening the UCLA clinic in Montecito. Again, she was recognized for her leadership skills and was the Lead Physician until her departure to start her own practice.
After over a decade of experience in the medical field, listening to countless patients, she felt driven to provide medical care in a more meaningful way. She determined the main avenue to helping patients is through the implementation of lifestyle medicine (LM). Once she learned about what can be done for patients using this approach, which is positive, empowering and even fun, she couldn’t continue to ignore the overwhelming benefits of this type of care and wanted to make this her sole focus as a doctor.
In 2024, she decided to open her own practice, Santa Barbara Lifestyle Medicine, enabling her to practice the way she feels is best for her and her patients.
Her mission is to help you achieve optimal health through a personalized approach that combines her extensive medical knowledge with a deep understanding of your individual needs.
